The US-based Immigration Attorney, Thomas Joy today
called upon the consultant companies dealing with
the visa services to look for other options as H-1b
(professionals and speciality occupations) quota had
been completed for the year.
Participating in the interactive sessions here on
US immigration, Joy said the H-1b visas which opened
in April 1 this year were all over by May 26. The
people could not go to US on H-1b visas till October
2007.
He said the present cap on H-1b was 65,000 all over
the world to United States and there was no proposal
from the US government to increase the cap.
He cleared the doubts of the participants on various
problems in securing the visas and changing from one
category to other and the formalities required for
the changes. The visas could get on l-1 (intra-company
transfers), l-1 (blanket programme) and B-1 (business
visitors).
He said to be eligible for a B-1 visa, an applicant
must prove to the satisfaction of the US consulate
official the purpose of the trip and the financial
resources of the individual.
Visa Pro Immigration Services USA, software technology
parks of India and the Hyderabad software exporters
association conducted the interaction sessions on
us immigration.
Visapro Immigration Services Founder Venkat Ramineni
said the session was part of nation-wide series of
seminars and workshops being organised in the country.
